A veteran presence is set to stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers as Tristan Thompson, the 33-year-old center, has inked a one-year deal to continue with the team through the 2024-25 season, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Thompson, who was originally drafted by the Cavaliers in 2011 and spent nine seasons with the team including winning an NBA championship in 2016, returned to Cleveland in 2023 after stints with multiple other teams. His latest deal solidifies his commitment to providing leadership and experience to the Cavaliers’ roster.

Despite a suspension earlier in the year for violating league substance policies, Thompson’s on-court contributions remain significant, averaging 3.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, and one assist per game in his 49 appearances for the Cavaliers.
With the return of Thompson, Cleveland’s young core, featuring stars like Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland, gains a valuable mentor and leader to guide them through the upcoming season.
