Erik ten Hag responds to criticism from Cristiano Ronaldo
Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo recently made headlines by criticizing the mentality of Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag, whom he worked under during his second spell at Old Trafford. Ronaldo stated that he did not respect Ten Hag and questioned United’s ability to compete in the Premier League under his leadership.
In response to Ronaldo’s comments, Ten Hag addressed the issue during a press conference ahead of United’s upcoming match against Southampton. He acknowledged Ronaldo’s right to his opinion, despite being far away in Saudi Arabia.
During the interview, Ten Hag also addressed Ronaldo’s claims that United cannot win with him as the manager. Ronaldo had left United in the middle of the 2022 season due to a fallout with Ten Hag and joined Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. Despite his struggles at United, Ronaldo found success in the Middle East, scoring 44 goals in 45 games last season. He remains committed to achieving international success with Portugal.
As United prepares to face Southampton, they will be looking to improve on their performance in the current season. After a slow start with just three points from three games, including losses to Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool, the Red Devils aim to bounce back and climb the Premier League table.
