UFC Fighter Irene Aldana Suffers Gruesome Cut During Fight
Irene Aldana endured a brutal three-round battle with Norma Dumont at UFC 306, leaving her with a cut on her head that resembled a scene from a horror movie.
A clash of heads caused Aldana to sustain a deep cut, resulting in blood streaming down her face as she tried to mount a comeback against Dumont. Despite her valiant effort, Aldana fell short, with Dumont emerging victorious via unanimous decision.
Following the loss, Aldana had to receive treatment backstage for her severe cut. UFC CEO Dana White even shared a photo of the gruesome wound before she received medical attention.
Dr. Greg Hsu, the UFC’s on-staff physician and surgeon, then shared a video demonstrating the severity of Aldana’s injury as he stitched up the deep cut on her head.
The video, although graphic, showcases the extent of the cut that Aldana sustained during the fight.
In the following slide, Hsu is seen meticulously sewing Aldana’s forehead back together after the damage inflicted during the fight.
It is likely that Aldana will require plastic surgery in the near future to prevent a permanent scar from the machete-like wound on her forehead.
