Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a head injury during the third quarter of the team’s Week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills. Tagovailoa was attempting to convert on a crucial 4th-and-4 play deep in Bills territory when he collided with Bills safety Damar Hamlin. After the tackle, Tagovailoa remained on the field.
Despite being able to walk off the field after a few minutes, Tagovailoa headed straight to the locker room. Skyler Thompson took over as the Dolphins’ quarterback.
This injury brought back memories of a previous head injury Tagovailoa suffered in 2022, where he experienced the “fencing response” after hitting his head on the turf. The quarterback had endured three concussions that season.
Shortly after reaching the locker room, the Dolphins announced that Tagovailoa had been ruled out with a concussion.
