Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov Set for Rematch at UFC 310
Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov have a new date for their highly anticipated rematch.
Originally scheduled for UFC 308, the bout was postponed due to a knee injury sustained by Volkov. However, the two heavyweight fighters have now been officially rescheduled to face off at UFC 310, which will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The news of the rescheduled fight was first reported by La Sueur and later confirmed by the UFC.
Gane, currently ranked No. 3 in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, previously defeated Volkov in a five-round battle back in June 2021. The upcoming rematch is expected to be a thrilling clash between two top-ranked heavyweights.
Following his victory over Volkov, Gane went on to claim the interim heavyweight title by defeating Derrick Lewis. He then faced Francis Ngannou in a unification bout at UFC 270, where he suffered a loss. Despite setbacks, Gane remains a formidable contender in the heavyweight division.
In his most recent fight, Gane secured a second-round TKO victory over Serghei Spivac in September 2023, showcasing his skills and determination in the octagon.
On the other hand, Volkov is currently enjoying a successful run in the UFC, having won four consecutive fights. His recent victories over top contenders have put him in contention for a shot at the UFC title, with his sights set on defeating Gane to solidify his position as a top heavyweight fighter.
