Alex Pereira and Artem Vakhitov, two fierce rivals in combat sports, share a mutual respect outside the ring.

After Vakhitov’s impressive performance on Contender Series, UFC CEO Dana White was hesitant to sign him. However, Pereira’s recommendation led to Vakhitov securing a contract with the UFC.

The two fighters met backstage following the event and had a friendly conversation through translators.

Vakhitov expressed his happiness for Pereira’s success and hinted at a future rematch between them.

Their history in GLORY saw Pereira winning their first encounter and Vakhitov claiming victory in the rematch. Pereira then transitioned to the UFC and became a two-division champion.

As Vakhitov made the switch to MMA, he and Pereira exchanged messages through interviews and social media.

Vakhitov clarified that their interactions were purely business and not personal.

He emphasized the respect he holds for Pereira, stating that it’s all about sports.

The fighters shared a handshake, a hug, and some light-hearted banter, with Pereira playfully reminding Vakhitov of his role in getting him into the UFC.

“You owe me one,” Pereira joked.

Vakhitov’s impressive record in MMA includes three wins by first-round knockout.
