New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr is expected to miss several weeks due to an oblique injury sustained during a Monday Night Football loss against the Kansas City Chiefs, as reported by Mike Garafolo.
The Saints are gearing up for a crucial showdown against their division rival, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, this Sunday. Following that, they will face the Denver Broncos at home on Thursday Night Football, marking their third game in just 11 days. With such a tight schedule, Carr’s availability for the next two games is in doubt.
In Carr’s absence, second-year quarterback Jake Haener stepped in during Monday’s game, but his status as the starter going forward is not guaranteed. Rookie Spencer Rattler showed promise during the preseason and has been competing with Haener for the QB2 position. The Saints will closely monitor the progress of these two young quarterbacks before making a decision on the starter.
