Jurgen Klopp, the former Liverpool manager, is set to make a return to football in the new year as the global head of soccer at Red Bull. Klopp left Anfield at the end of last season after an illustrious tenure, which saw him lead Liverpool to Premier League and Champions League titles.

Initially planning to take a year-long break, Klopp will now be responsible for overseeing Red Bull’s international network of clubs, including RB Leipzig and New York Red Bulls. While he won’t be involved in day-to-day operations, Klopp will provide strategic vision and support to the clubs’ sporting directors, as well as contribute to scouting and coach development.

Klopp “could not be more excited”

Klopp expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, stating, “After almost 25 years on the sideline, I could not be more excited to get involved in a project like this. I want to develop and support the incredible football talent at our disposal and explore new possibilities together with Red Bull.”

He sees his role as a mentor for coaches and management within the Red Bull organization, highlighting the innovative and forward-looking nature of the club.

Mintzlaff delighted to have secured Klopp

Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of corporate projects and investments at Red Bull, praised the signing of Klopp, calling it a game changer for the club’s international soccer involvement. Klopp’s appointment is expected to bring valuable insights and improvements to the clubs under Red Bull’s umbrella.

Reports suggest that Klopp has signed a long-term contract with Red Bull, with a potential exit clause allowing him to take over as the coach of the Germany national team in the future.
