The New Orleans Pelicans have suffered another blow as guard Jose Alvarado will be out of action for at least three weeks due to a hamstring injury, the team confirmed. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Alvarado could be sidelined for up to six weeks to fully recover.
This setback adds to the Pelicans’ injury woes this season, with key players like Zion Williamson, Herb Jones, Dejounte Murray, CJ McCollum, and Jordan Hawkins also currently nursing injuries. Alvarado sustained his hamstring injury during the team’s recent game against the Brooklyn Nets.
Despite the injury, Alvarado has been a standout performer for the Pelicans this season, averaging a career-high 10.7 points and 4.5 assists per game. He has been shooting well from beyond the arc and had impressive scoring performances in recent games.
The Pelicans, currently sitting at a 3-8 record, are facing a tough stretch of games in the coming weeks. They will be without Alvarado as they take on top teams in the league, including the Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, and Golden State Warriors.
New Orleans will look to regroup and bounce back from their recent losses as they aim to navigate through this challenging period. The team’s next game against the Thunder will be a test of their depth and resilience without Alvarado in the lineup. If the guard misses the full six weeks, he could potentially return in time for a matchup against the Houston Rockets in late December.
