Manchester City midfielder Rodri has expressed his interest in a potential offer from Real Madrid.
Despite being sidelined with an anterior cruciate ligament tear, the Ballon d’Or winner remains a highly sought-after player. Real Madrid had been linked with the defensive midfielder before his injury, and Rodri has not dismissed the speculation during recent interviews.
In a recent interview with Catalan radio station Cadena Ser, the Spain international stated, “Obviously, when Real Madrid calls you, the best club in history and the most successful, with what it means, it is an honor. You always have to pay attention. That much is clear.”
Rodri had previously been reserved when asked about transfer rumors in September. Manchester City is determined to retain the talented midfielder and is planning to offer him a new contract soon. The recent commitment of manager Pep Guardiola to the club could influence Rodri’s decision.
“I have two years remaining on my contract,” Rodri stated, “so it’s almost time to start negotiations again. Guardiola’s decision is a significant factor.”
Expressing his joy at Guardiola’s continuation, Rodri mentioned, “He is the most influential coach in my career. It’s great news for the club and the fans. I knew when I joined City that Guardiola wouldn’t leave after a few years as initially thought.”
Having spent seven years at Atletico Madrid before joining City, Rodri is considering his future. While he feels appreciated in England, Spain remains close to his heart. He acknowledged the improving level of La Liga teams and hinted at a possible return to his homeland to finish his career.
