Stephen Curry will not be playing in the upcoming game between the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday due to knee soreness.
Specifically, Curry is dealing with bilateral knee soreness and patellofemoral pain, as reported in the NBA injury report. Despite scoring 28 points in the previous game against the Brooklyn Nets, Curry was listed as questionable for the upcoming matchup.
The two-time NBA MVP leads the Warriors this season with an average of 22.4 points per game, shooting 44% from beyond the arc. In addition, he is contributing 6.5 assists and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Prior to this, Curry missed three games earlier in the season due to an ankle injury. The Warriors emerged victorious in all three games, but facing the Thunder, who currently hold the top spot in the Western Conference with a record of 13-4, will pose a tougher challenge. Golden State is close behind with a record of 12-5.
Forward Jonathan Kuminga is also uncertain for the upcoming game due to an illness. He missed the last two games but participated in practice on Tuesday.
The Warriors secured a win against the Thunder in their previous encounter on Nov. 10 with a score of 127-116. Curry led the charge with 38 points, supported by Kuminga with 20 points. Unfortunately, De’Anthony Melton will be out for the remainder of the season due to an ACL injury.
On the Thunder’s side, Chet Holmgren sustained a fractured hip in the same game and will be sidelined for eight to 10 weeks. The injury occurred when he fell hard while attempting to block a shot by Andrew Wiggins early in the first quarter.
