The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially signed Tommy Edman to a five-year contract extension worth $74 million. The deal, announced by the team on Friday, includes a club option for a sixth year. This move comes after Edman’s impressive performance during the postseason.

Edman, who was acquired by the Dodgers in a trade earlier this year, had a delayed start to the 2024 season due to injuries. However, he made a significant impact once he joined the team, especially during the playoffs where he played a key role in helping the Dodgers win the World Series.

Following the trade, Edman primarily played shortstop but is expected to transition back to center field in the upcoming season. The Dodgers are also actively pursuing other top free agents to strengthen their roster.

Earlier this week, the Dodgers also signed pitcher Blake Snell to a lucrative contract, further solidifying their lineup. With a talented roster and recent championship win, the Dodgers are looking to maintain their winning momentum in the seasons to come.

The Dodgers’ successful 2024 season culminated in a World Series victory against the New York Yankees, marking the franchise’s eighth championship overall. As they prepare for the upcoming season, the Dodgers are focused on building a strong team that can compete at the highest level.
