Jon Jones reveals career path if he didn’t become MMA fighter: ‘Now I beat up people for a living’

Jon Jones wasn’t always destined to become a UFC legend.

The UFC heavyweight champion recently defended his title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, showcasing his dominance in the octagon. During a recent interview with the Alex G Was Here YouTube channel, Jones revealed his alternative career path if he hadn’t pursued mixed martial arts.

“If I wasn’t a fighter, I would have been interested in a career in the military or law enforcement. I’ve always had a desire to help people and be a hero,” said Jones.

Jones had an impressive reign as the light heavyweight champion, successfully defending his title 11 times. Despite never losing the belt in a fight, Jones decided to vacate the title and move up to the heavyweight division after defeating Dominick Reyes.

After a three-year hiatus, Jones returned to the octagon and claimed the heavyweight title by defeating Ciryl Gane. His victory came after Francis Ngannou left the UFC to join PFL. Jones’s journey back to the top culminated in a dominant win over Miocic at Madison Square Garden.

Reflecting on his unconventional path, Jones admitted, “My life has been quite a rollercoaster. Despite not always playing the role of the good guy, my desire to help others has remained constant. I initially pursued a degree in criminal justice but ended up in a completely different career path.”

“My life has taken unexpected turns, but I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Jones added.
