Mike Tyson facing lawsuit in the U.K. following loss to Jake Paul
Reports indicate that Mike Tyson is being taken to court in London for $1.59 million after allegedly backing out of a deal to promote an online casino and betting company, Rabona, following his fight announcement with Jake Paul.
Court documents reveal that Tyson and his company, Tyrannic, agreed to a promotional deal with Medier, the company behind Rabona, in January. However, Tyson terminated the deal in March, coinciding with the announcement of his fight with Paul originally scheduled for July 20. The fight was postponed to November 15 due to Tyson’s health concerns, with Paul ultimately winning by unanimous decision.
The termination was reportedly due to Medier allegedly breaching the agreement, a claim that the company denies.
According to documents cited in a Reuters report, Tyson’s decision to terminate the deal was influenced by a sponsorship deal with Netflix to fight influencer Jake Paul.
Tyson’s legal team has responded to the lawsuit, expressing confidence that their client will be vindicated once all the facts are presented in court.
In a statement to ESPN, Tyson’s legal team asserted that Medier had breached the agreement multiple times, leading to financial and reputational damage. They believe that the court will rule in their favor.
