The offseason in baseball has been dominated by the active starting pitching market, with numerous transactions taking place since the winter began. As we enter January, it’s a good time to assess where things stand in terms of starting pitchers available for teams looking to bolster their rotations.

Out of the Top 50 free agents at the start of the offseason, 13 starting pitchers have already signed new contracts. These signings include notable names such as Corbin Burnes, Blake Snell, Max Fried, and Luis Severino, among others. Additionally, several other big league deals have been made for starters not on the Top 50 list.

Despite the flurry of signings, there are still several top arms available in the free-agent market. Roki Sasaki, Jack Flaherty, and Nick Pivetta are among the pitchers yet to find new teams. The trade market is also active, with players like Dylan Cease and Luis Castillo garnering interest from teams looking to make deals.

As teams continue to evaluate their roster needs heading into spring training, the starting pitching market remains a focal point. The upcoming decisions of top free agents like Sasaki will likely impact further moves in the market. With injuries and other factors always playing a role in shaping rotations, the offseason is far from over, and more transactions are expected in the coming weeks.
