Arsenal ‘open’ to signing players in January says Arteta

Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, has hinted that the club may be looking to make some moves in the upcoming January transfer window, provided they can identify the right players to strengthen their squad.

The Gunners are currently six points behind league leaders Liverpool in the Premier League and are dealing with the absence of winger Bukayo Saka due to injury.

While Arsenal did not make any signings in the last January transfer window, Arteta has suggested that they might be more active this time around.

He stated, “If there is somebody in the market that we can afford and we believe they will make a real impact on the team, then we have to be open to that possibility always. Right now, our focus is on the players we already have.”

Team News

Saka is expected to be out for a significant period, but Arsenal will have Kai Havertz back in action after recovering from illness for their upcoming match against Brighton on Saturday.

However, former Brighton defender Ben White is still sidelined, and Takehiro Tomiyasu is back in training but won’t be rushed back into the team. Additionally, right-back Jurrien Timber is suspended.

There is some positive news as Raheem Sterling is making progress on the pitch, and Arteta mentioned, “He is starting to do some work, so that is encouraging. We will assess his progress next week to determine his availability for the following week.”
