Arsenal handed huge blow in £150m Alexander Isak pursuit

Newcastle United’s £150m asking price for striker Alexander Isak is expected to deter Arsenal from pursuing a transfer, as per reports.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, a longtime admirer of Isak, saw his team fall 2-0 to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg, with Isak scoring his 15th goal of the season.

Newcastle is challenging potential suitors to break the British transfer record to acquire the 25-year-old Isak, who is valued at £150m.

The Daily Mail reports that Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke is unlikely to approve the signing of Isak at that price, urging Arteta to find a more affordable alternative.

While Arsenal is not currently at risk of breaching financial regulations, the club is concerned that a significant investment in one player could impact their future compliance.

Unless there are major player departures, Arsenal’s transfer budget may not accommodate a move for Isak.

Striker Gabriel Jesus could be available for transfer in the summer, but it may not generate sufficient funds for an Isak deal.

Newcastle aims to retain Isak, who has expressed his contentment at St James’ Park, but financial constraints may hinder their ability to compete with other clubs unless they secure a Champions League spot.
