Turki Alalshikh is making waves in the world of boxing once again.
On Thursday morning, Alalshikh took to Twitter to announce that Garcia has officially signed a contract for his upcoming fight. While the opponent is still unknown, the event is expected to take place in May in the United States.
According to Ring Magazine, which is owned by Alalshikh, Devin Haney, Garcia’s previous opponent, is also rumored to be part of the fight card. If both fighters emerge victorious, plans are in place for a rematch between Garcia and Haney in October to kick off Riyadh Season.
Their first encounter in April ended in a controversial decision win for Garcia, who later tested positive for banned substances, resulting in the fight being declared a No Contest. He was subsequently suspended for a year.
While Garcia was supposed to face Rukiya Anpo in an exhibition match at RIZIN’s New Year’s Eve event, a wrist injury delayed the fight. Despite his assurance that the bout will happen in 2025, Garcia’s schedule seems to be filling up quickly with other commitments.
