Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has reportedly decided to stay at Old Trafford for the rest of the season after talks for a loan move to Borussia Dortmund fell through.
Since expressing his desire for a “new challenge” in December, Rashford has attracted interest from clubs worldwide. Despite being benched for weeks, he has not played under Ruben Amorim.
However, Rashford’s high salary and preference for top European clubs have limited his options.
Borussia Dortmund was keen on signing Rashford, but negotiations for a loan deal have not been successful. The Bundesliga club is now doubtful about completing the transfer this month, according to Sky Sports Germany.
Dortmund is waiting to see if United will reconsider covering most of Rashford’s wages as the transfer window approaches its end. Barcelona is also reportedly interested, but their financial situation is uncertain.
AC Milan was linked with Rashford, but they cannot sign another non-EU player after acquiring Kyle Walker from Manchester City.
Despite wanting to leave, Rashford is reportedly “content” to play for Amorim if called upon, according to The Guardian.
Rashford’s last appearance for United was in December, where he scored three goals in six games under Amorim. Only three players have scored more goals during Amorim’s tenure.
