Rory McIlroy got off to a sensational start at his first PGA Tour event of 2025. Taking part in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, McIlroy managed to ace the sixth hole during his first round on Thursday afternoon.
Teed off on the back nine at Spyglass Hill, McIlroy sent his shot down the hill and it went straight into the hole on the 119-yard, par-3 15th. The crowd’s excitement added to the thrill of the moment.
As the Golf Channel TV broadcast noted, “No putts required.”
This hole-in-one quickly propelled McIlroy to an early share of the lead at 3-under par for the tournament.
The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am marks McIlroy’s first Tour appearance of the year. He recently competed in the DP World Tour’s Hero Dubai Desert Classic, finishing tied for fourth with Niklas Norgaard.
Prior to this, McIlroy had achieved two aces in professional competition. The first one took place at the 2015 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship on the 177-yard 15th hole, where the ball went in on one bounce.
More recently, he scored a hole-in-one at the 2022 Travelers Championship. This shot was not as dramatic as the one at Pebble Beach, bouncing on the green about 15 feet from the hole before rolling in.
