Aaron Gordon has secured a new contract with the Denver Nuggets, agreeing to a four-year, $133 million extension with the team. The deal includes him opting in on his $23 million salary for the 2025-26 season, followed by three additional years at his maximum salary plus bonuses, totaling $133 million. This ensures that Gordon, a key member of the Nuggets’ 2023 championship team, is locked in for the long term.
Last season, Gordon averaged 13.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per game with the Nuggets, helping them secure their first championship in 2023. The 29-year-old forward was originally drafted by the Orlando Magic as the No. 4 overall pick in 2014 and spent six seasons with the team before being traded to Denver in 2021.
Gordon had two years remaining on his previous four-year, $86.6 million deal with the Nuggets, which he initially signed in 2022. As part of his new extension, he opted into the player option for the 2025-26 season before transitioning to a maximum-salary contract for the following three seasons, reaching a total value of $133 million.
The contract extension news for Gordon was part of a series of deals made across the league on Monday, which marked the deadline for the rookie class of 2021 to agree to extensions. Other players who secured new deals include Alperen Şengün, Jalen Green, Cade Cunningham, Evan Mobley, Scottie Barnes, Jalen Suggs, Franz Wagner, Moses Moody, Trey Murphy III, Corey Kispert, and Jalen Johnson.
The Nuggets, who finished last season with a 57-25 record, were eliminated from the playoffs in the Western Conference semifinals by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Gordon plays a crucial role in the team’s starting lineup alongside Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokić, who signed a four-year, $208 million deal last month. Denver is set to begin the new season against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night.
