According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Anthony Davis is expected to make his return to the Mavericks’ lineup during their upcoming Eastern road trip, which kicks off on Monday.
Last week, Davis briefly practiced with the Mavs’ G League team before being recalled to the NBA club after just one session.
The Mavericks’ four-game road trip includes matchups against the Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, and Chicago Bulls. Davis, who has been out since February 8 due to a left adductor strain, has been pushing for a return to help his team in their playoff push.
Despite discussions about shutting him down for the rest of the season, Davis has been determined to get back on the court. With 11 games left in the regular season, Dallas is currently tied with the Phoenix Suns for the 10th seed in the Western Conference.
The Mavericks are hopeful that Davis will be back on the court soon, as he has been participating in full practice sessions with the G League team. Meanwhile, other injured big men on the team, Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford, have been limited to three-on-three activities.
Davis, who has put up impressive numbers in the games he’s played this season, will be a key addition to the Mavericks’ lineup as they aim to secure a spot in the play-in tournament.
