Arne Slot expressed concern over a potential injury for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who had to be taken off in the first half of the win against Aston Villa.
Liverpool secured a 2-0 victory at Anfield with goals from Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah, extending their lead at the top of the Premier League table. However, Alexander-Arnold’s injury dampened the celebration.
Slot revealed that Alexander-Arnold is unlikely to be fit for England’s upcoming Nations League matches in November after being forced off in the 25th minute.
Speaking after the game, Slot said, “It’s concerning when a player has to be substituted in the first half, especially when it’s not due to fatigue but due to feeling something.”
“He didn’t ask to be substituted because he was tired, but because he felt something.
“It’s not a good sign when a player has to come off in the first half, but it’s too early to determine the extent of the injury. We will have to wait and see.”
“I doubt we will see him feature for England in the upcoming matches, but hopefully he will recover soon.”
Liverpool is facing multiple injury concerns, with players like Alisson, Federico Chiesa, Diogo Jota, and Harvey Elliott currently sidelined. Alexis Mac Allister, who praised Liverpool as strong title contenders, is also at risk of suspension with one more yellow card.
Alexander-Arnold was part of Lee Carsley’s squad for the upcoming matches against Greece and the Republic of Ireland, but his availability is now uncertain as England assess his injury.
