Arsenal forward Kai Havertz has had to pull out of Germany’s squad for their upcoming Nations League matches in October due to a knee injury.
The talented former Chelsea player has been on fire at the start of the 2024/25 season, playing a crucial role in Arsenal’s strong performances in both the Premier League and Champions League. Havertz scored his fourth goal in as many games over the weekend, helping Arsenal secure a 3-1 victory against Southampton at the Emirates Stadium.
This was his sixth goal for the club in all competitions this season, but Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be concerned about his fitness as they prepare to continue their title challenge against Bournemouth later this month.
A statement from the German national team on X confirmed: “Kai Havertz will be unavailable for the upcoming matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Netherlands due to knee issues.”
Arteta praised Havertz’s performance after the win, saying: “He’s always pushing himself to do better and he’s not satisfied with his current level because he knows there’s more he can give. His confidence is evident and he’s now translating that into match-winning performances.”
Arsenal were without several key players for the Southampton game, including Jurrien Timber and Ben White. However, they are expected to return for the next fixture, along with captain Martin Odegaard, who is set to be back in action later this month.
On a positive note, summer signing Mikel Merino made his second appearance for Arsenal, and Takehiro Tomiyasu featured for the first time this season.
