Benoit Saint Denis wants Mateusz Gamrot after snapping losing skid
UFC 315 winner Benoit Saint Denis spoke to MMA Junkie and reporters post-fight after his second-round submission of Kyle Prepolec in Montreal.
MONTREAL – Benoit Saint Denis held a press conference after his victory over Kyle Prepolec at UFC 315.
Saint Denis (14-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) faced initial resistance from Prepolec (18-9 MMA, 0-3 UFC), who stepped in on short notice to fill Joel Alvarez’s spot. However, Saint Denis ultimately dominated and submitted Prepolec in the first round.
Saint Denis, who was heavily favored in the fight, broke a two-fight losing streak and now has his sights set on Mateusz Gamrot, who claims Saint Denis declined a fight offer.
“The only issue is we didn’t receive any offer (from Gamrot) for (UFC 315),” Saint Denis said during his post-fight press conference. “I wanted to fight tonight. Now that it’s done, he should know, like all fighters do, that when you have the opportunity to fight, you take it. You don’t go through training camp for nothing.
“… I’m not sure what the UFC’s plans are with Gamrot, whether he has a fight scheduled. But facing anyone in the top 10 is an honor and a privilege. It will be a battle.”
Gamrot (24-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) is set to fight Ludovit Klein at the end of the month.
