Get ready for an exciting cricket showdown as India gears up to tour Australia for a five-match test series in November, famously known as the Border-Gavaskar series. The last time the Indian team visited Australia for a Test series was four years ago, a series that is still remembered as one of the greatest in cricket history.

The upcoming five tests in November hold significant importance for both teams, as the results could have a major impact on their chances of qualifying for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final in the 2023-25 cycle.

A highlight of the series will be the day-night Test match, a special occasion where the pink ball is used instead of the traditional red ball. This unique format allows for a tea and dinner break during intervals and enhances visibility for players under floodlights.

Reports suggest that the Indian team will play a practice pink-ball Test match at the Adelaide Oval before the actual game during the series.

Recalling India’s last day-night Test in Australia

The previous day-night Test played by India against Australia ended in a disheartening defeat, as they recorded their lowest Test score in history. Despite a strong position after the first innings, India faltered in the second innings.

After posting 244 runs in their first innings at the Adelaide Oval, India managed to restrict Australia to 191. However, a collapse in the second innings saw India bundled out for a mere 36 runs, leading to a comfortable chase for Australia.

Match Summary

  • India – 244 and 36
  • Australia – 191 and 93/2 (Target: 90)
  • Player of the match – Tim Paine (73*, 7 catches)

Despite the defeat, this match marked the beginning of a remarkable comeback by the Indian team. They went on to win the following matches in the series, including a historic victory at the Gabba.
