Atlanta Braves Option Outfielder and Sign Free Agent
On Monday, the Atlanta Braves decided to option outfielder Jarred Kelenic to Triple-A Gwinnett and signed free agent Eddie Rosario to take his place on the active roster.
Kelenic faced criticism recently for not running hard on a fly ball he thought was a home run in a game on April 19. The incident led to a social media post by Ronald Acuña Jr., the 2023 National League MVP, questioning the team’s handling of such situations.
Despite his struggles this season and in 2024, Kelenic was once highly regarded as one of MLB’s top prospects. However, his performance did not meet expectations after being traded to the Seattle Mariners and then to the Braves.
Return of 2021 NLCS MVP to Atlanta
The return of Eddie Rosario, the 2021 NLCS MVP, is likely to be well-received by Braves fans. Rosario played a crucial role in the team’s World Series championship run in 2021 and is expected to provide valuable depth to the roster.
After a brief stint with the Dodgers, Rosario impressed in Triple-A before being called up to the majors. With the emergence of other outfielders on the Braves’ roster, Rosario is expected to serve as a bench player until Acuña returns from injury.
