British Open: Tiger Woods plays 18-hole practice round at Royal Troon ahead of return

Tiger Woods has officially begun his preparations for the British Open. After flying from Florida to Scotland on Saturday, Woods played an 18-hole practice round alone at Royal Troon Golf Club on Sunday, as reported by ESPN’s Mark Schlabach.

Accompanied only by his caddie Lance Bennett, Woods focused on chipping and putting from various angles during the round. Meanwhile, Tony Finau, Lucas Glover, and Jason Day were playing in the group ahead of him.

Having not competed since missing the cut at the U.S. Open last month, Woods is gearing up for what is expected to be his final event of 2024. His recent performances have seen him struggle to make the cut, with early exits at major championships like the Masters, PGA Championship, and U.S. Open.

Reflecting on his performance at the U.S. Open, Woods hinted that it may have been his last appearance at the event. With 15 major championships to his name, including three British Open titles, Woods last made the cut at the British Open in 2018, finishing T6 at Carnoustie Golf Links.

The British Open is set to commence on Thursday, with Scottie Scheffler being the favorite to win according to BetMGM. Woods, on the other hand, was listed at +15000 to win as of Sunday night.
