NBC is gearing up to welcome back the NBA after a hiatus of over two decades, and they have enlisted the expertise of Carmelo Anthony, a highly decorated player, to join their team as an analyst. Anthony, a 10-time NBA All-Star and a future inductee into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025, will be part of NBC Sports’ coverage of the league starting next season, as announced by the network on Saturday.

Anthony took to social media to confirm the news, sharing a video showcasing highlights from his illustrious career as well as memorable moments from NBA on NBC throughout the years.

The announcement of Anthony’s new role was made during NBC’s coverage of the Kentucky Derby, where the former forward expressed his excitement about returning to a team-oriented environment.

“I’m looking forward to discussing and dissecting the game, delving into the ‘why’ behind the plays. There’s a whole new layer to the game that we need to explore,” Anthony shared when asked about his anticipation for the new role.

With a 19-year career in the NBA, Anthony has left a lasting impact on the sport, most notably during his stints with the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks. Additionally, he has garnered three Olympic gold medals and a bronze medal as a key member of the U.S. men’s basketball team.

Having retired in 2022, Anthony’s legacy was further solidified with his induction into the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.
