Chelsea have officially announced the signing of Pedro from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The transfer deal, valued at approximately £54 million, including add-ons, was revealed during the halftime break of Chelsea’s pre-season friendly against Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge.
Pedro Neto expressed his gratitude for joining Chelsea, stating, “I have worked tirelessly throughout my career to reach this point, and I am excited to represent this club on the field.”
Having started his professional journey at Braga and later enjoying a successful loan spell at Lazio, Neto’s move to Wolves in 2019 marked a significant turning point in his career. During his time at Wolves, he made 135 appearances, contributing to the team’s impressive league finish and Europa League run.
Despite facing setbacks due to injuries, including a long-term knee issue, Neto’s determination and resilience shone through. He recovered from a hamstring injury towards the end of the previous season and earned a spot in Portugal’s Euro 2024 squad.
At 24 years old, Neto becomes Chelsea’s ninth summer signing, adding experience to the squad as the club aims for success in the upcoming season.
With training sessions with his new teammates on the horizon, Neto could feature in Chelsea’s first Premier League match of the 2024/25 season against Manchester City on August 18.
