Reports have emerged that Trevoh Chalobah has been recalled from his loan spell at Crystal Palace by parent club Chelsea.
Chalobah had moved to Selhurst Park last summer on a deal until the end of the season, with Chelsea having the option to bring him back in January if needed.
The Athletic
reported that Chelsea have exercised the clause to bring Chalobah back to Stamford Bridge, as head coach Enzo Maresca seeks reinforcements following injuries to key defenders.
Maresca had previously avoided discussing the potential recall of Chalobah out of respect for Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner.
Chalobah, aged 25, is set to have a significant role at Chelsea for the remainder of the season, possibly partnering with Levi Colwill in defense. Academy graduate Josh Acheampong filled in during the recent draw with Bournemouth.
Chalobah will not feature in Palace’s upcoming match against Leicester City, with Chelsea’s recall taking immediate effect. This marks the end of his short tenure at Palace, where he made 14 appearances.
