Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei is set to finalize a permanent move to Lazio before the transfer deadline, as hinted by his agent on social media.
Casadei has struggled for playing time this season, mostly featuring in the Conference League and rarely making the Premier League matchday squad.
Despite his previous connection with Enzo Maresca from a loan spell at Leicester City, Casadei has not been given many opportunities, similar to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
A potential £11m transfer to Lazio is in progress, with agent Francesco Facchinetti hinting at the move on social media by announcing his travel to Rome.
According to Nizaar Kinsella of BBC Sport, Chelsea and Lazio are nearing a deal with a significant sell-on clause under discussion, ensuring Chelsea’s potential profit if Casadei excels at Lazio.
Casadei, who recently turned 22, has never played professionally in Italy. Chelsea signed him from Inter’s academy for €15m when he was 18 years old.
So far, Casadei has played 17 games for Chelsea and had loan spells at Reading and Leicester, accumulating 40 appearances.
Lazio is enjoying a successful season in both Serie A and the Europa League, currently sitting fourth in the league and leading their Europa League group.
