Cole Palmer made history on Saturday by scoring four goals in the first half of Chelsea’s 4-2 victory over Brighton. This remarkable achievement marks him as the first player in Premier League history to achieve such a feat within the first 45 minutes of play.
The 22-year-old midfielder opened the scoring in the 21st minute, followed by a successful penalty kick in the 28th minute. Palmer completed his hat trick in the 31st minute with an impressive free kick from outside the box. Just 10 minutes later, he netted his fourth goal with a shot that narrowly passed the goalkeeper’s outstretched hands.
In a span of only 20 minutes, Palmer went from his first goal to his fourth. Although he came close to scoring a fifth goal in the 51st minute, his attempt narrowly missed, resulting in a relatively quiet second half.
Despite Brighton managing to score two goals in the first half through Georginio Rutter in the seventh minute and Carlos Baleba in the 34th minute, Chelsea’s lead remained unassailable.
This season marks Palmer’s second year with Chelsea, having joined the team in 2023. In his debut season, he impressively scored 25 goals in 45 appearances across various competitions.
