The Los Angeles Clippers have secured Ivica Zubac for the next few seasons with a new contract extension.
The Croatian center has agreed to a lucrative three-year deal worth $58.6 million, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. This extension ensures Zubac’s presence with the Clippers for the next four years, with a total contract value of $70 million.
Following a strong performance in the previous season, it was expected that the Clippers would extend Zubac’s contract. At 27 years old, Zubac has quietly established himself as a top center in the NBA, showcasing career-high numbers in points per game.
While Zubac may not make it to the All-Star game, his skills in rebounding, defense, and on-court chemistry with teammates like Kawhi Leonard and James Harden make him a valuable asset to the Clippers. Notably, Zubac was acquired by the team in 2019 in exchange for Mike Muscala.
The decision to extend Zubac’s contract was a straightforward one for the Clippers, especially amidst a challenging offseason. With the departure of All-Star Paul George to the Philadelphia 76ers and other roster changes, Zubac’s continuity provides stability to the team’s core.
As the Clippers gear up for the upcoming season, Zubac will lead the frontline with support from Mo Bamba and Kai Jones.
