The upcoming Paris Olympics are set to be a monumental event for tennis star Coco Gauff. This will be her first opportunity to compete at the Games after missing out on the Tokyo Olympics three years ago due to a positive Covid-19 test. Adding to the excitement, the 20-year-old has been honored as the female flag-bearer for Team USA.

Gauff, currently ranked No.2 in the world, will have three chances to stand on the podium in Paris as she competes in women’s singles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. The competition will take place on the clay courts of Roland Garros, a venue where Gauff has achieved success in the past.

Expressing her aspirations, Gauff shared, “One of the goals I wrote down on my vision board, in my phone, was to win a medal in the Olympics. I’ll be completely honest; I don’t really care what event it is in. I feel like gold, silver, or bronze, whatever medal it is, is one of those things; it doesn’t matter.”

She continued, “Well, it does matter. Obviously, I want to win in singles. I feel like I would appreciate it just as much, whether it was in singles or doubles. It’s not the same to me as a Slam.”
