Cody Stamann sensed the end of his UFC career approaching.
After suffering a third consecutive loss in November 2024, Stamann, a veteran of 30 fights in the promotion, reached the end of his contract. With no immediate call from the UFC, he eventually found out via social media that his time with the organization was over.
Despite the abrupt ending, Stamann accepted the situation with grace, acknowledging the unpredictable nature of the sport.
Reflecting on his time in the UFC, Stamann recognized that his decision to prioritize entertainment over his winning strategy may have impacted his results. However, he remains grateful for the opportunities and experiences he had in the organization.
I believe I still have a lot more to offer to this sport,” Stamann expressed.
Stamann is set to make his comeback at a Legends of Combat event in Michigan, his home state, marking his return to the regional scene after a hiatus since 2017.
Although humbling to return to his origins following his time in the UFC, Stamann is grateful for the opportunity to still compete and have fans supporting him.
Looking ahead, Stamann aims to secure a victory, establish himself as a threat in the 145-pound division, and set his sights on potentially joining another major promotion by 2026.
“I am confident that I could step onto any stage outside the UFC and defeat any 145-pound champion,” Stamann confidently stated. “I have trained with these athletes, sparred with champions from other organizations, and I know that I have what it takes to come out on top. I have proven it in the gym, and I am ready to do it in the cage.
“I am far from finished. I believe that within a year, I will hold a world championship title in another organization.”
