Conor McGregor is not backing down from the controversy.
The former UFC champion took to social media to express his outrage after U.S. presidential nominee Donald Trump declared Khabib Nurmagomedov as his favorite fighter. McGregor criticized Trump’s choice, stating that an American fighter should have been chosen instead of the Dagestan-born former lightweight champion.

McGregor and Nurmagomedov have a history of animosity towards each other.
Their infamous clash at UFC 229 in October 2018 resulted in Nurmagomedov defeating McGregor via submission. The event drew over 2 million pay-per-view buys and ended with a chaotic post-fight brawl.
While Nurmagomedov retired undefeated, McGregor has faced setbacks in his career since their fight, including withdrawing from a bout due to injury.
McGregor’s upcoming fight with Michael Chandler is highly anticipated, with Chandler also engaging in the social media exchanges.
