Coventry City owner Doug King has confirmed that Frank Lampard is being considered for the head coach position following the departure of manager Mark Robins last week.
During a Fans Forum at the Coventry Building Society Arena, King emphasized the importance of the upcoming appointment and mentioned the numerous applications they have received.
In an interview with Sky Sports, King revealed that Lampard, a former Chelsea and England star, is one of the applicants under consideration.
King stated, “We’ve received a significant number of CVs from highly qualified individuals, including Frank. We have not made any decisions yet as we are currently in the international break. We will carefully evaluate all applications.”
He also mentioned that they will soon compile a shortlist of potential candidates for further assessment.

Lampard, who previously managed as a caretaker at Chelsea until the end of the 2022-23 season, has Championship experience from leading Derby County to the play-off final in 2019.
He is currently the favorite among bookmakers for the role, with other potential candidates including former Coventry striker Robbie Keane and ex-Coventry midfielder Lee Carsley.
Reports also suggest that Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield is being considered, although no direct approach has been made yet.
Following Robins’ departure, Coventry announced that the new head coach would work within the club’s updated structure.
Rhys Carr, the joint first-team coach, has been appointed as caretaker manager for now. He led the team to a resilient 2-2 draw against Sunderland and will continue in this role until a permanent head coach is appointed.
Coventry’s next match is scheduled for November 23 against Sheffield United, who currently occupy the second spot in the standings.
