Cristiano Ronaldo was thrilled to have showcased his talent with two goals that led Al Nassr to a 3-1 victory over Al Gharafa in the AFC Champions League last night.
Ronaldo’s double strike, marking his 912th and 913th career goals, have placed the Saudi Arabian club on the verge of advancing to the knockout stages, needing just two more points from their remaining three games.
The Portuguese superstar scored on either side of an Angelo Gabriel goal, much to the joy of the 37,000-strong crowd – equivalent to 12 percent of Qatar’s population – who traveled 30 miles from Doha to Al Bayt.
Although former Real Madrid striker Joselu managed to pull one back for the hosts, it was Ronaldo who stole the spotlight.

Motivated by fans
“It’s still my motivation to bring joy to my fans, especially the kids, as I have children of my own at home,” Ronaldo shared with Al Jazeera.
“Children’s passion for football is pure. They love the sport, so I always strive to give my best for them. With fans of all ages supporting us, I am delighted to score and make them happy.”
Having won three of their last four games in all competitions, Al Nassr and Ronaldo, who has yet to secure any trophies since his move to Saudi Arabia in 2022, emphasized the importance of team success over individual achievements.

Win the most important thing – Ronaldo
He further stated, “Goals are great, but winning is the ultimate goal. For me, Al Nassr’s victory is the top priority.
“Al Gharafa posed a tough challenge, and our victory was a result of the team’s organization. My main focus is always on winning. Goals follow teamwork, and I am dedicated to scoring and winning. When the team succeeds, I am happy and dedicate the triumph to the fans, the club, and Ronaldo’s supporters.
“We had opportunities in the first half but couldn’t convert. Adjustments were made in the second half, leading to the goals.”
Currently third in the Pro League, Al Nassr aims to narrow the gap with leaders Al Ittihad when they face Damac on Friday.
