The ongoing debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo is a hot topic in the soccer world. However, Ronaldo now holds one bragging right over his Argentine rival: YouTube supremacy.
Recently, Ronaldo, who currently plays for Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr, launched his own YouTube channel. The channel’s debut was a massive success, garnering 100,000 subscribers in just 55 minutes and hitting the one million mark in 90 minutes.
Ronaldo’s channel quickly surpassed Messi’s subscriber count, with the former boasting over 6 million subscribers compared to Messi’s 2.2 million. Despite only posting one video since September 1, 2021, Messi’s channel pales in comparison to Ronaldo’s, which debuted with 11 videos.
According to the channel’s launch announcement, Ronaldo’s platform will cover various topics, including soccer, his primary passion, as well as his interests in family, wellness, nutrition, preparation, recovery, education, and business.
While Ronaldo’s channel is growing rapidly, he still has a long way to go if he aims to challenge the likes of Mr. Beast, who boasts a whopping 311 million subscribers on YouTube.
At 39 years old, Ronaldo is approaching the twilight of his remarkable soccer career, which has seen him secure seven league titles in England, Spain, and Italy, along with five Ballon d’Or awards and numerous other accolades. He recently announced that Euro 2024 would be his final tournament with Portugal, leaving his participation in the 2026 World Cup uncertain.
