Dan Ige is set to make his return to the Octagon.
The experienced UFC featherweight is slated to face off against Lerone Murphy in a highly anticipated matchup of ranked contenders on October 26th at UFC 308, according to sources familiar with the situation as reported by MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck.
Ige and Murphy were originally scheduled to clash at UFC Vegas 86 in February, but Murphy had to withdraw due to injury. Instead, Ige went on to score a knockout victory over Andre Fili in the first round.
Following that win, Ige was supposed to fight Joanderson Brito and then Chepe Mariscal on July 20th at UFC Vegas 94. However, he ended up stepping in on short notice to face Diego Lopes at UFC 303. Despite the last-minute change, Ige put on a valiant effort but ultimately fell short, losing to Lopes via decision.
Now, Ige will face off against Murphy, an undefeated contender who recently secured a thrilling Fight of the Night victory over Edson Barboza. Murphy’s impressive UFC run includes six consecutive wins since his promotional debut in 2019.
The highly anticipated UFC 308 event is set to take place at the prestigious Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
