Dana White explains moving Power Slap to YouTube in new deal: ‘You know who I like to bet on? Me’

Dana White, the fearless leader of the UFC, is never afraid to take risks and bet on himself.

In a bold move, White announced that his new slapfighting promotion, Power Slap, will be making a change from streaming on Rumble to exclusively airing events on YouTube. The transition will kick off this Friday with the highly anticipated return of Paige VanZant to the ring. This move is made possible by a lucrative sponsorship deal with VeChain, a cryptocurrency firm that is investing a staggering $76 million over the next six years to become the title sponsor of Power Slap.

Despite reports that this deal is bringing in less revenue compared to their previous partnership with Rumble, White remains unfazed. He is currently in talks with two potential sponsors that could potentially increase the annual “rights deal” to $35 million, not to mention the potential earnings from YouTube’s massive user base.

Furthermore, White turned down offers from three linear cable channels that were interested in broadcasting Power Slap. By maintaining control over the company’s rights and sponsorships, White is confident in his ability to secure additional partnerships and steer Power Slap towards continued success.

White’s confidence in his vision for Power Slap is unwavering. “You know who I like to bet on? Me,” he told Forbes. “At Power Slap, we own everything and we control everything. We are creating our own destiny.”

With a focus on creating viral moments, Power Slap’s recent event on Rumble drew an impressive 4.3 million viewers. The promotion is now set to expand internationally, with plans for shows in Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Brazil, and South Africa.

White’s ultimate goal is to elevate Power Slap to the same level of success as the UFC. With plans for further expansion in the United States and lucrative site fees from international events, White is determined to make his vision a reality.

Maintaining full control over Power Slap is crucial to White’s strategy for success. As the promotion moves to YouTube and continues to grow, White’s commitment to independence and autonomy remains unwavering.
