Dana White’s Latest Venture: Boxing
Dana White, the UFC CEO, has long been teasing a move into the world of boxing. Despite previous claims that the sport is “broken,” White seems determined to make his mark in the boxing world. Recently, White hinted at a new venture into boxing during a press conference following the latest episode of Contender Series.
White shared, “I did my first fight in Ireland and we’ll start announcing stuff here [at the] beginning of 2025.” This statement comes after White attended the Callum Walsh vs. Przemyslaw Runowski fight in Dublin, Ireland, last weekend.
While details about White’s boxing plans remain scarce, he has emphasized that this time, it’s for real. With his experience in the MMA world, White believes he has a unique perspective to bring to the boxing industry.
White’s approach to boxing promotion will differ from that of MMA due to the Ali Act, which provides federal oversight for boxers. Despite these challenges, White is confident in his plan for handling the promotional aspects of boxing.
Regarding the timing of his venture, White stated, “Every time I get on the phone with these guys I go, ‘Am I out of my f*cking mind?’ But I think that obviously now is the time or I would have done it then.” White believes that the current landscape of boxing presents unique opportunities for innovation and growth.
White concluded, “There’s a million reasons why now is [the time]. If you notice, as far as boxing goes, even as much money as Sheik Turki is throwing into this thing, television deals aren’t really abundant right now. There’s just a lot of things that I think I can do that other people haven’t done yet.”
With a clear plan in mind, White is determined to shake up the boxing industry. He expressed, “I have always had an idea of how I thought it should be done. I don’t know if that’s possible, but we’re going to find out. I’m coming in guns blazing.”
