According to a recent report by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Aidan O’Connell has emerged with a “slight edge” over Gardner Minshew in the Las Vegas Raiders’ starting-quarterback battle during OTA and minicamp sessions.
During his media appearances to promote Netflix’s ‘Receiver,’ Raiders’ star wide receiver Davante Adams appeared to support this claim.
Adams expressed confidence in O’Connell, stating that he believes O’Connell currently holds the starting job based on his previous experience and first-team reps. However, Adams acknowledged that Minshew could still compete for the position.
Adams emphasized that his priority is having a quarterback who is prepared to lead the team effectively on game day, regardless of who ultimately wins the starting job.
With the season approaching, the Raiders’ top offensive player’s endorsement of O’Connell adds intrigue to the quarterback battle. It remains to be seen if O’Connell can maintain his edge as the competition intensifies.
