Exciting Race Ahead: Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta
Tune in at 3 p.m. ET (Fox)
Get ready for an action-packed race as Denny Hamlin, the current points leader, takes the lead at Atlanta this Sunday.
Hamlin secures the pole position for Sunday’s race at the 1.5-mile track, with teammate Martin Truex Jr. starting right behind him. The unique qualifying formula by NASCAR determined the starting lineup, given the absence of practice or qualifying sessions.
The formula comprises various factors such as the driver’s previous race finish (25%), the car’s finish in the previous event (25%), the team’s owner points position (35%), and the driver’s fastest lap from the last race (15%). The driver with the lowest combined number earns the top spot.
Hamlin’s consistent performance with four top-10 finishes in the first five races of the season positions him as a strong contender. The 2020 Atlanta race marked the first NASCAR event postponed due to the pandemic, adding an extra layer of anticipation to this year’s competition.
