The Los Angeles offseason stockpile has extended to the front office, as reports indicate that the Dodgers are bringing back former general manager Farhan Zaidi in a new role. Zaidi will be hired as a special adviser, providing guidance to controlling Dodgers owner Mark Walter in his various sports interests, which include stakes in the Lakers, Sparks, Chelsea, and the Professional Women’s Hockey League.
Zaidi previously served as the Dodgers’ general manager from 2014 to 2018, utilizing an analytics-based approach that helped lead the team to two World Series appearances. He honed his skills as a data analyst and assistant general manager with the Oakland A’s under Billy Beane before joining the Dodgers.
After leaving the Dodgers in 2018, Zaidi took on the role of president of baseball operations for the San Francisco Giants, where he played a key role in their resurgence. However, following a disappointing season, Zaidi was let go by the Giants in September 2021.
Now, Zaidi returns to a Dodgers team that is coming off a World Series win and a successful offseason, with notable acquisitions like Roki Sasaki and Blake Snell.
