The ongoing feud between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor

The rivalry between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor shows no signs of fading away.

At UFC 303, McGregor was set to make his highly anticipated comeback in a main event bout against Michael Chandler. However, just two weeks before the fight, McGregor pulled out, citing a broken pinky toe as the reason. While Poirier wants to give McGregor the benefit of the doubt, he agrees with those who criticized McGregor’s decision.

Poirier expressed his disbelief at McGregor’s reason for withdrawing from the fight, stating, “A pinky toe? I’ve fought through numerous injuries over the years, and a pinky toe doesn’t seem like a valid reason to pull out of a fight.” Despite this, Poirier acknowledged that he wasn’t aware of the severity of McGregor’s injury.

The history between Poirier and McGregor dates back to 2014 when McGregor defeated Poirier at UFC 178. Their most recent encounter at UFC 264 saw Poirier emerge victorious after McGregor suffered a leg injury. The feud between the two escalated following the fight, with McGregor making controversial remarks about Poirier and his family.

Despite the animosity between them, Poirier is open to facing McGregor again in the future, stating, “He crossed lines you can’t come back from. I want to whip his ass.” McGregor has not competed since his loss to Poirier, while Poirier recently suffered a defeat in his title challenge against Islam Makhachev.

McGregor’s absence from the octagon has left fans wondering when he will return, especially for a potential rematch with Poirier. The ongoing feud between the two fighters continues to captivate the MMA world.
