The Washington Nationals are set to call up outfielder Dylan Crews to make his major league debut against the New York Yankees on Monday. According to Andrew Golden of the Washington Post, Crews will be joining the Nationals after serving as the designated hitter for Rochester on Friday.
Crews, who was the second overall pick in the 2023 amateur draft, was initially considered the top player in his draft class. However, he has yet to meet expectations in the minor leagues, posting a .277 batting average with 18 home runs and 29 stolen bases in his first 134 games.
CBS Sports ranked Crews as the fifth-best prospect in the minors earlier this year, citing his strong performance in college and some struggles in his brief Double-A stint. Despite this, Crews is part of a young Nationals roster that includes promising talents like James Wood, CJ Abrams, Luis García Jr., and Jacob Young.
