A group of former MMA fighters, including Renan Barao, tried their luck running for seats as city councillors during the recent elections but unfortunately did not receive enough votes to secure a position.

Barao, a former UFC bantamweight champion, only managed to gather 253 votes in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte.

Other notable fighters who ran for office include Felipe Arantes, who received 14,607 votes in São Paulo, Godofredo Pepey with 77 votes in Fortaleza, Rudimar Fedrigo with 3,758 votes in Curitiba, and Jose “Pele” Landi-Jons with 143 votes in Curitiba.

Evangelista Santos received 341 votes in Rondonopolis, Paulo Bananada got 12 votes in Sapé, Delson Heleno earned 111 votes in Teresopolis, Ronys Torres had 472 votes in Manacapuru, Ralph Gracie received 1,422 votes in Rio de Janeiro, and Tiago Trator garnered 257 votes in Laranjal do Jari.
