Fan favorite Boban Marjanović has decided to leave the NBA and continue his basketball career in Turkey, signing with the Euroleague’s Fenerbahce, according to reports from Euroshoops and ESPN.
Details of Marjanović’s contract with the Turkish team have not been disclosed at this time.
The 36-year-old center has had a successful career in the NBA, playing for various teams including the San Antonio Spurs, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, and Houston Rockets. Despite limited playing time, Marjanović has been a fan favorite with his towering height and positive attitude both on and off the court.
During his time with the Rockets last season, Marjanović only played in 14 games, averaging 5.1 minutes per game. The Houston Chronicle reported that the team did not have plans to include him in the roster for the upcoming season.
Known for his sense of humor and charismatic personality, Marjanović has endeared himself to fans across the league. In a memorable moment during a game against his former team, the Clippers, he intentionally missed a free throw to win fans free chicken sandwiches, much to everyone’s delight.
Aside from his basketball career, Marjanović also made a cameo appearance in the “John Wick” movie franchise, showcasing his versatility beyond the basketball court.
Originally from Serbia, Marjanović had a successful career in European leagues before making his mark in the NBA. He was a three-time Serbian Super League MVP from 2013-2015.
